Canowindra CBD Activation Project

The Canowindra CBD Activation Project will improve the attraction and amenities in Canowindra, while maintaining and enhancing the heritage of the town and surrounds. The project also aims to guide visitors to the historic main street.

The below plans will guide the management and development of Council projects over the next 5 to 10 years

The values expressed by the community led to a number of ‘guiding principles for the design’ for the Mainstreet Precinct Plan, they are:
Aesthetic
• Vintage, rustic and nostalgic;
• Incorporate furniture using vintage styling;
• Footpaths are to be grey concrete, as they are;
• Palms should be used where appropriate, with pops of colour from seasonal planting; and,
• Lighting for night-time appeal.

Activity
• People should be able to sit singularly and in groups along the streets; and,
• People should have a place to gather.

Amenity
• Interpretive and wayfinding signage;
• Seating; and,
• Footpath connections

• River Walk and Riverside Park
