Severe thunderstorm warning
Published on 23 January 2019
The Bureau of Meteorology has warned that severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, damaging winds and possibly large hailstones over the next several hours.
Areas likely to be affected include parts of the Central Tablelands and Central West Slopes and Plains.
The State Emergency Service says people should move their cars under cover or away from trees, secure or put away loose items around their houses, yards and balconies, and keep at least eight metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
Other recommended precautions include keeping clear of creeks and storm drains; not walking, riding a bike or driving a vehicle through flood water; unplugging computers and appliances; avoiding using the phone during the storm; and staying indoors away from windows.
