Molong Town Centre Activation Opening
Published on 01 July 2024
The Molong Town Centre Activation Plan is a co-funded project by the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund and the NSW Government’s Resources for Regions Fund. The project was delivered to help develop Molong as a key regional destination, leveraging off the town’s unique characteristics and offerings, improving walkability and facilitating movement, navigation and wayfinding, stimulating private investment, and diversifying
the local economy and grow the town as a local business and tourism hub.
The project commenced April 2023 and included:
Installation of street trees to the centre line of the road with native understorey planting, solar fairy lights, permeable paving between the trees and safe crossing points (pedestrian refuges)
Installation of new seating and removal of existing planters and benches
Installation of tree planter pots with irrigation reservoirs and ornamental tree planting in strategic positions along the main street
Installation of new garbage bins.
The Gasworks Lane area which forms part of the Activation Plan has also been completed and included:
New carpark for long vehicles, and/or long-term parking
Improved connectivity between the Caravan Park, swimming pool and oval precinct to the CBD and Molong Creek’s shared pathway
Drainage improvements, footpaths, landscaping and new kerb and guttering.
Note: A community celebration will also be held at the end of the year to mark this milestone.
