A large area of Molong may experience a planned power outage on Sunday 17 May 2020 as Essential Energy undertakes network maintenance. The outage is planned to occur between 9am and 4pm while the works on the high voltage electricity transmission network are carried out.

As NSW adjusts to the impact of COVID-19, regional electricity distributor Essential Energy has asked for the community’s understanding to help complete critical maintenance work to ensure a safe and reliable power supply for customers. If this maintenance work is not completed, the risk of unplanned outages increases.

Since notification of this service interruption, Cabonne Council has liaised with Essential Energy to utilise the same outage period to undertake long-planned electricity upgrades at the Molong Recreation Ground.

The upgrade work was originally scheduled for January but was postponed until the weather was cooler and demand on air-conditioning was not as high. The work was then scheduled for March however the impacts of Coronavirus meant the work was unavoidably postponed.

Whilst there will be disruption to residents during this time, the cooperative effort by Essential Energy and Council to carry out works in conjunction will result in one period of service interruption rather than two.

In conjunction with Essential Energy, a Sunday was selected as the day to undertake the upgrade to minimise the disruption to business.
