On a memorable day, Cabonne Shire celebrated the citizenship of nine new Australians in a ceremony held at the Cabonne Community Centre in Molong. Presided over by Mayor Kevin Beatty, the event was a significant milestone for the new citizens who pledged their loyalty to Australia.

Citizenship is a vital part of Australia's national identity, symbolising a commitment to the country’s democratic beliefs, rights, and laws. The ceremony involved taking the pledge of commitment and receiving the Certificate of Citizenship, a legal proof of their new status.

Australian citizenship is not just a status but a profound responsibility and privilege. It allows individuals to fully participate in the nation’s civic life, vote in elections, apply for an Australian passport, and receive consular assistance when overseas. It signifies a mutual commitment between Australia and its citizens to uphold shared values and contribute to the nation's prosperity.

In Cabonne, citizenship ceremonies are arranged by the Council when notified by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP). The Council's role is to coordinate and perform these ceremonies, which can also be held as part of Australia Day celebrations in the local area.

The community warmly welcomes the new citizens, celebrating their journey and the diverse contributions they bring to Cabonne Shire. For more information on Cabonne's citizenship ceremonies, visit here.

Congratulations to our new citizens! Welcome to the Cabonne family!
