Nationals Upper House Member, Sam Farraway has today announced over $800,000 from Round 3 of the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund (SCCF) will be put towards projects in the Cabonne region.

“Through the Stronger Country Communities Fund we are getting grassroots projects the help they need to get off the ground and make a difference to our regional communities. Even in these hard and unpredictable times we are sticking by our commitment to fund projects aimed at enhancing outcomes for young people in regional areas, ensuring they are given opportunities to thrive through new infrastructure and programs – after all, they are our future,” Mr Farraway said.

Cabonne Council will receive $435,452 from the Fund for the Yeoval Recreation Precinct masterplan and lighting upgrades at the Dr Andrew Ross Memorial Recreation Ground. Cabonne Council Mayor, Clr Kevin Beatty said Cabonne had benefitted greatly through the first two rounds of the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund, and this further funding would have a big impact on the Shire’s growth.

“Programs such as this contribute enormously to rural areas and local projects make a huge impact on our communities. In the current trying circumstances we all find ourselves in, this news will provide a much-needed boost to our communities,” he said.

“These projects are about bringing communities together, strengthening and supporting our social connections, and creating vibrant rural and regional communities for the future”.

Clr Beatty thanked the NSW Government for their continuing support to Cabonne and congratulated the community organisations that submitted successful projects. Community organisations from across the region also received funding for a variety of projects:

Cudal Tennis Club, Multi-purpose sporting surface- $138,618

Cumnock P&C, Cumnock Multi Purpose Precinct- $156,085
